Oakham is a pretty, traditional English market town, and packed with heritage, there’s plenty to see. Rutland County Museum is a great place to start your visit, then on to Oakham Castle which is free to enter. Find out why Royalty and Nobility have been bringing horseshoes to hang on the castle walls for centuries. Wander through the Market Place Look out for the unusual stocks and the town pump beneath the Butter Cross. There are many good places to eat there. On then to historic Stamford where many period drama films have been made due to the magnificent architecture.
